How the order is built

A mixed ranking.

These are real public scores. The file is 1,627 U.S. Kids events from the year ending October 13, 2026: local tours across the country, the state invitationals, the regionals, the international championships, and the World Championship. 15,241 golfers posted a score. Ages run from 6 and under through 12, the last year of the World Championship. Teen Worlds, 13 through 18, is not on this board. The Junior Tour by Under Armour publishes season points, not the round scores this order is built from, so those starts are not in the file.

The same child is one person across events, matched on name and hometown. A boy who played Boys 8 at a regional and again at a state invitational is one row. If the fall local tee sheet says Boys 9, those rounds are a second row, because the tees changed. Girls are different. A Girls 12 regional and a Girls 11-12 local are the same 18 holes, so both weeks are on the one Girls 11-12 list. Same for Girls 9 on the 9-10 tees, and Girls 8 on the 8-and-under tees.

It is not a head to head list, and it is not a raw score list. Most of the number is the score against the kids in that flight. The rest is the result against each of them, one pair at a time, plus where the golfer finished. A low score in a weak flight does not count the same as the same score against a strong one.

Head to head is the second part. In each round, every pair is a result: lower score wins, equal scores tie. A large field is scaled so the whole round counts about as much as one match. Finish points are the third part: the week (local, state, regional, world), how strong the top of the field was, how big the field was, and where the golfer placed. The best five finishes in the year are kept. On local tours only, the worst quarter of a golfer's rounds are left out, the same cut Junior Golf Scoreboard uses. A morning game and a rushed nine should not set the number. A local round that does count is weighted at half, because those fields are lighter and a loss is uncommon. A golfer whose whole year is local is marked down again, until there is a state, regional, international, or Worlds start. A state round, a regional, Canada, and Worlds all count as one full round. The size of the field does not multiply it again. Results older than a year drop off. A result from about six months ago counts half as much as one from this week.

Those three pieces are turned into one order: 75 percent strokes against the field, 15 percent the head to head rating after it is shrunk for uncertainty, 10 percent finishes. A better score beats a bigger week. U.S. Kids priority status is never an input. A numbered rank needs three events. Everyone else with a score is listed, and search finds them.

What this pass does not do yet: flag a round whose yardage looks wrong, carry last year’s skill into a new age as a prior, or ingest the Junior Tour by Under Armour round by round. The weights are the published ones. They are not a set of sliders.
